The Amgen Bio-Minds Program (Biotechnology Mentorship Initiative to Develop Scientists Program) is an initiative funded by the Amgen Foundation in collaboration with the University of Puerto Rico. Its goal is to promote undergraduate research in the areas of science and engineering that support the advancement of biotechnology.
The participating students will be exposed to cutting edge technology and science-based approaches to solve problems in biosciences. Critical thinking, ethical behavior, communication skills, and teamwork will be embedded into their research experiences. This will result in a more competitive professional, prepared to continue graduate school or to become part of a highly educated workforce needed to support a knowledge-based economy.
Students from the University of Puerto Rico campuses of Cayey, Humacao, Mayagüez, Medical Sciences, and Río Piedras are elegible. These students must be enrolled in BS programs of Biology, Biochemistry, Industrial Biotechnology, Industrial Microbiology, Engineering, or Chemistry.
